Who is orderTopia?

orderTopia is co-founders Dan Epstein and Brian Williford, and our crack team of software engineers, technical support junkies, and social media ninjas.  Don't worry--they're friendly ninjas.

Dan Epstein Dan Epstein
CEO and co-Founder

Dan handles the day-to-day management of orderTopia.  He also manages business development from restaurants to retailers to affiliate partners and beyond.  Dan works with Brian designing business strategy for orderTopia.   

Dan is also the founder and owner of Eppie’s restaurant in Charlottesville, VA.  Eppie's opened for business in 2006.  Before opening Eppie’s, Dan worked for Navigant Consulting, the McIntire School of Commerce at UVA, and five other restaurants.

Brian Williford Brian Williford
CTO / co-Founder

Brian is in charge of all technological development and architecture at orderTopia.  

Brian has over 25 years of technology experience and currently has two other technology businesses on the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville, VA.  Oh My Brain, inc, is a web 2.0 business and social media applications development company.  thumbDo LLC is a mobile application provider with an emphasis on location awareness technologies and communication between web and mobile.  Brian has already developed many apps that are on the iTunes apps store.

John McAllister

John McAllister
Partner

John came to know Dan as a frequent customer of Eppie’s restaurant.  He was intrigued by the idea of creating a cloud-based POS when Dan initially approached him with the idea in early May of 2009.  Extensive discussions ensued which ultimately led to John making a strategic investment as a partner in August of 2009.

John serves as the director of marketing for Quantitative Investment Management, a $5.8 billion hedge fund located in Charlottesville, VA.  His primary responsibilities include investor relations, business development and managing relationships with our marketing service providers.  John began working for QIM in August 2004 as an assistant trader.  He previously spent a season working as a public relations intern in the league office for the National Basketball Association (NBA) and graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in History in 1998. John Feminella John Feminella
Lead Information Architect

John is responsible for the technical implementation, software design, and development on select pieces of orderTopia's architecture. He is an avid proponent of agile technologies, good software development, and developer productivity.  

In addition to his role at orderTopia, John is also the cofounder and principal consultant of his Charlottesville firm, Distilled Brilliance. He's a frequent contributor to a number of open-source projects, including Mono and Ubuntu, and John's also the author of several assorted libraries and Firefox plugins.

Ron Duplain

Ron Duplain
Computer Engineer

Ron integrates POS systems into orderTopia's architecture.

In addition to his role at orderTopia, Ron works with a national research facility based in Charlottesville, VA, where he develops instruments and applications using community-developed hardware and software systems and provides executive-level analytics of national operations.

Ron has degrees in computer engineering and VLSI microchip design from the University of Cincinnati, and is currently completing a masters in systems engineering at the University of Virginia.  He runs a local Python developer's group, and enjoys building applications using a variety of programming languages for Unix-like systems, Windows, and Android. Nicole Radziwill


Nicole Radziwill

Analyst

Nicole provides modeling, simulation and operations analysis for OrderTopia. This helps the company continually enhance the quality of its products and services, refine its value proposition, streamline its internal processes, and generally make customers awesomely happy.

In addition to working with OrderTopia, Dr. Radziwill is on the faculty of the Department of Integrated Science and Technology at James Madison University (JMU) in Harrisonburg, Virginia. She has an MBA, a Ph.D. in technology management with a specialization in quality systems, and is certified by the American Society for Quality (ASQ) as a Manager of Quality and Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE). She is Chair of the Software Division of the ASQ. Dr. Radziwill has also been appointed by the U.S. Department of Commerce as an Examiner for the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (MBNQA), established by the U.S. Congress in 1987.
